Which Golf GTI do I have?
"Golf GTI" covers eight generations since 1976, and most parts fit only one or two of them. Here is how to find yours in a minute.
Why the generation matters
Bumpers, spoilers, lights and many interior parts change from one generation to the next, and sometimes even within one (the MK7 and the facelifted MK7.5). A part listed for the wrong generation will not fit, so the first step is always to know exactly which GTI you have.
Generations and years
The years below are approximate model years. North America usually got each generation a year or more after Europe.

Find the model year in your VIN
Your VIN (vehicle identification number) is on the registration document and at the bottom of the windscreen. Its 10th character is the model year. The model year can differ from the registration year, so this is the more reliable check.

MK7 or MK7.5?
The MK7.5 is the facelift of the MK7, introduced in 2017 in Europe (model year 2018 in North America). It brought redesigned bumpers, new LED rear lights and larger touchscreens. Many interior parts fit both, while bumper parts often fit only one. Each product page in our store says which of the two it fits.
If you are not sure, the model year from your VIN settles it.
Still not sure?
Send us your VIN before you order and we will check the fit for you. You can also choose your generation once on our site, and the store then shows only the parts listed for it.
